Natural Stone Veneer Installation

Our stone is installed just like tile using thinset and cutting with a wet saw. It can be installed on exterior stucco surfaces, cement boards and masonry block or interior surfaces like painted drywall. Please make sure substraight is attached properly to the structure prior of installation and all instructions on using thinset have been read.  It is also recommended that you check your local construction code for applicable installation information.

To achieve the best results, your installer should always examine the entire shipment that was purchased to obtain a comprehensive view of the full range of color variance.  The installer will then be prepared to work to ensure an even mixture that can be enjoyed for a lifetime.

Our natural stone veneer has been engineered to be installed on an existing foundation without major preparation to the structure. Therefore, it could be installed with thinset and you can go for higher elevations.

  • For Ledge Stone at 8 lbs/Sq.ft you can go up to 40 feet high without mechanical attachment.
  • For 6” Split Face at 6 lbs/Sq.ft you can go up to 50 feet high without mechanical attachment.
  • For 8” Split Face at 8 lbs/Sq.ft you can go up to 40 feet high without mechanical attachment.
  • For 10” Split Face at 10 lbs/Sq.ft you can go up to 32 feet high without mechanical attachment.
  • For 12” Split Face at 12 lbs/Sq.ft you can go up to 26 feet high without mechanical attachment.

Again, it is best to to check your local construction code for applicable installation information.

After cutting a split face piece, an installer can chisel it to factory edge thickness.  Simply place the stone on a flat clean surface. Using a pointy flat chisel, chisel back in 1/8” increments to achieve straight edge.  You can also use a masonry hammer to break the face of the stone in 1/8” increments. This method will not give you a straight edge.

Grouting will depend on the customer’s style and the look you’re trying to achieve. Our product can be butt joined without a grout line.  However, sometimes grouting is used in freezing climates to prevent the water to go behind the stone.

Sealing the stone is not necessary. However, it can be added as extra protection especially for the grout lines or to prevent damage if exposed to water regularly. Two sealants can be used – deep sealer and surface sealer. The deep sealer will not change the natural look of the stone. The surface sealer will enhance the colors of the stone and can add either a glossy or a matte finish. Wet a sample with water and this will illustrate the color after surface sealing.

All above figures can be changed depending on your jurisdictions and construction code enforcement. Check with your local structural engineer for all the specifics on your project.
