Natural stone is one of the most durable building materials on earth and lasts the lifetime of the structure. Its color runs through the stone, so it will not fade. Manufactured stone performs well, but its color is a surface treatment that can lighten in direct sun, and a chip can expose the gray concrete underneath. For exteriors and freeze-thaw climates, real stone holds up better.
